I met Courtenay several years ago at her mothers wedding which I had the privilege of being the photographer at. We started our day at Mena & Co. Salon with Deanne Cowell for Courtenay’s hair and makeup session. Then we took off and drove out into the corner of Turlock to a very interesting location. Courtenay told me this location would be different, I guess I underestimated her definition of different. I absolutely loved it because there was crap everywhere and tons of textures. When I was doing my Photo-a-day challenge I could have shot a whole months worth of photos at this one location. In between Courtenay’s outfit changes I Instagrammed (one, two) the crap out of that place. To be honest I could have spent hours there taking hipster photos with my iPhone.
Ok, back to Courtenay. So, I wish that we had someone there shooting behind the scenes video because we had a lot of fun walking around looking for spots to shoot at. She had a lot of outfits and I wanted to try and make use of them. Courtenay is a Senior at Beyer High School so I wanted to make sure her photos could hang with the best of them. Courtenay came across to me as a very well rounded person who has a wide range of interests. This came out in her photos with her outfits and the different moods we went for. We shot a lot of photos and got some great shots out of it.
